CAN A "MANI" CURE?

"What is she thinking?" may be going through your mind after scanning the above title. Is the space between letters intended?
Yes! It is.
We all have ways of treating ourselves when we need a lift or something to spoil us as we did when we were children.
"Mani", of course, pertains to "hand"---the same root as manipulate or manifest. I delve into a manicure as if into the Fountain of Youth! Ponce de Leon had nothing on me! When I am feeling down and out, and a Yoga class is not enough to lift me high enough, I know the ultimate resource will. The perfect Gel manicure with just the right shade of color to enliven my spirits and make me feel as though I can shake hands with the highest and mighty!
Petty?  Humm-mm. Perhaps.
Well, is "petty" so bad? Maybe there is a place for it in everyone's life. Are you able to welcome petty into your life?

The perfect Danish pastry with a rich cup of Italian coffee in an air cooled cafe, waiting for a friend whom you haven't seen in too long a while, hoping it wasn't too rude to order early can give a light headed lift.
Curling up with your pet or pet person, holding his or her hand or paw while remaining still under a lap blanket can set you up for a special night of deep and uninterrupted sleep.
Simple, yes. Petty, maybe, but ever so welcome!
For me, the promise of a manicure, after setting an appointment, sets my mood high for the remainder of the week until I appear for my "cure"! Once my nails are well done, I am ready to take on the world with finesse and diligence.

All of this may sound too petty, but think about how long it has been since you allowed yourself to accept a simple personal treat........ just because. Something that is your personal secret that sends you sky high!
I do not ever want to hear the words I once did, offered by my god daughter in Los Angeles:
"Bunny (my nickname), you need a manicure."
I flew to get one done the very next day, and vowed never to let my nail image flag!
Petty--putty---pretty!
