They do not
rave. They are glad to be here as our slaves. I am speaking of the Sudanese who
are kept here as refugees, but without status. They do work, indeed! They are
offered care, but have no official status in Israel.
They are escaping
for religious freedom as Christians in a Moslem society.
They can be
asked to leave Israel at any time since their refuge is transient.
They are given
very poor and limited housing which is automatically deducted from their
hotel pay checks. They are fed at the hotels on a schedule. Their food is also
deducted as is their transportation to and from work.
The hotels in
Eilat became their host employers with government approval. They cannot leave
for another spot. They can be arrested if they try to get to another location
here in Israel. Eilat is an odd place indeed.
Hotels here can
offer special programs to "teach culinary arts" to young people from
all over, receiving labor for no pay under the guise of "free
training".
The main
revenue here emanates from the hotels. There are many, and most thrive.
Russians, French, South Americans, and Tel Avivian Israelis continue to pour
themselves into the cool and luxurious pools. These tourists are also most
willing to pour out their pockets for the privilege of shopping here, TAX FREE.
The fact that prices have been raised before hand to accommodate the tax free
details is not a popular subject for discussion!
One can surmise
that the hotel associations here which are behind the expansive hotel
chains are like a private government branch. They duel, they rule, and they
fool!
Here's to
dominance and profit----financial rule---Israel does it well!
Farewell to
all! Miss Rheingold
